Classes

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering Sewing Classes beginning  this fall, on Sundays from 1:30 pm-4:30 pm.  If the weather is bad, check our Facebook page before venturing out.

All classes will be held at Stix Down Under, 821 West Mendenhall St., Bozeman, MT.  This classroom is in the same building as The Sewing Shop.  Use the west entrance to the building, and walk downstairs. 

All classes will have a $5 per person fee, payable at the door. No reservation or sign-up is necessary.  Just  come on in! 

If you do not have your own sewing machine, it's okay.  We have a couple of spares.

October 11, 2026  Make friends with your sewing machine- We will go over how sewing machines work, threading, winding bobbins, needles, tension.  There will be several sewing exercises.  Bring your portable machine if you have one. 

October 18, 2026  Essential Sewing Tools and how to use them

October 25, 2026  Hand Sewing techniques and stitches

November 1, 2026 Understanding commercial patterns, reading instructions, cutting layouts, pinning, cutting, marking, selecting fabric, matching plaids.

November 8, 2026  Make friends with your sewing machine- We will go over how sewing machines work, threading, winding bobbins, needles, tension.  There will be several sewing exercises.  Bring your portable machine if you have one. 

November 15, 2026 Zippers -Types, styles, how to install. Bring your machine.

December 6, 2026 Hems-types,  styles, machine, hand, specialty, jeans. Bring your machine.

December 13, 2016 How to take measurements

December 20, 2026 Seam Finishes-How to make the inside look as good as the outside. Bring your machine.

January 10, 2027 The Magic of Pressing in clothing construction.

January 17, 2027  When and how to use different types of closures.  Hooks/Eyes, hook and loop, buttons/buttonholes.

January 24, 2027 Techniques for sewing "difficult" Fabrics. Bring your sewing machine.
